The tiles on this page are original Raymond Josse / Les Grès du MaineMade. Made in France, these hand-painted Seville glazed terracotta tiles have the colour, variation and character that comes with traditional handmade production.
These tiles have an enamelled finish on a stoneware base, and because of the way they were made, you can expect some natural variation in colour, glaze, surface and size from tile to tile.
We still have some of the original tiles in stock at our Rochester showroom, but quantities are limited. If you are trying to match an existing Raymond Josse tile, send us a photo, the exact size and how many you need — we may still have something suitable.
Limited stock: once these ranges are gone, we may not be able to replace them, so it is worth checking availability before planning a larger area.
Hand-painted, glazed and enamelled finish
Traditional surface
The tiles are hand-painted and enamelled, so you get natural differences in the glaze, colour and finish from one tile to the next.
Natural colour, glaze and size variation
The firing process gives these tiles natural variation in colour, size and surface. You may also notice small imperfections from tile to tile, but that’s part of their handmade character rather than a fault.

Older Raymond Josse tiles are still found in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and other interiors, so replacement enquiries are often about

Before fixing, lay a few tiles out first and mix them around so the natural differences in size and colour are spread evenly. The adhesive and grout you use will depend on where the tiles are being fitted. For outdoor areas, wet rooms or anything more demanding, it’s worth checking the full installation setup before starting.
