Key features of Wychwood Porcelain Matt
Limestone-effect look
Wychwood Porcelain Matt is designed to look like aged English limestone, with gentle fossil-like markings and some tonal movement across each tile. It gives you the warmth and character of stone without the upkeep of a natural limestone floor.
Matt, time-worn finish
The matt surface and softly undulated edges create a relaxed, time-worn feel that works beautifully in both modern and period homes. It’s practical underfoot and helps to disguise day-to-day dust and footprints.
Large format 60 × 90cm
The generous 60 × 90cm format reduces grout lines and makes rooms feel more open, especially in open-plan kitchens and living spaces. Fewer joints also make cleaning simpler.
Everyday practical porcelain
Made from porcelain, Wychwood is suitable for busy family areas where you need something that can handle spills, pets, and muddy boots. It’s also a smart alternative to real limestone if you’d like less maintenance.

Where Wychwood Porcelain Matt works best
Kitchens
Wychwood’s warm, natural tones work beautifully with painted and timber kitchen units, stone-look worktops, and classic shaker doors. The matt finish helps with day-to-day practicality, giving you a floor that’s easy to mop and doesn’t show every splash or footprint.
Hallways and entrance areas
In entrance halls and boot rooms, Wychwood gives you the welcoming look of limestone with the toughness of porcelain. It’s a great choice if you have muddy boots, prams, or pets coming through the door, and you want something that can cope without feeling precious.
Open-plan living and dining spaces
The large 60 × 90cm format is ideal for open-plan layouts where you want a calm, continuous floor from kitchen to living and dining areas. Fewer grout joints help spaces feel more open, and the neutral colour palette works with both modern and more traditional schemes.
Garden rooms and indoor–outdoor runs
If you’re planning an indoor–outdoor run from the kitchen or living space out to a garden room, patio, or terrace, Wychwood Porcelain Matt is a great choice. The limestone-effect surface links indoor and outdoor areas visually, while porcelain’s durability makes it a practical choice for the British climate.
We’ve used Wychwood in Kent homes from period cottages to new-builds. Get in touch via phone, email, or visit our Rochester tile showroom to talk about layouts, quantities, and grout options with the team.
Design ideas and styling tips
Wychwood Porcelain Matt is very easy to live with and even easier to style. The limestone tones go nicely with warm woods, painted joinery, and simple black or bronze hardware, giving you a relaxed, timeless backdrop you can dress up or down.
- Keep grout soft and tonal for a more seamless, stone-like look, or go a touch darker for added definition around each tile.
- Pair with patterned splashbacks or feature walls from our kitchen tiles collections if you’d like more detail higher up the room.
- Combine with smaller formats in adjoining bathrooms or utilities for a subtle change of scale that still feels connected.
- Layer texture with rugs and textiles – Wychwood’s matt surface is a calm base for natural linens, wool runners, and woven baskets.
How many Wychwood tiles do you need?
As a quick guide, measure the length and width of your room in metres, multiply the two numbers together to get the area in square metres, then add a little extra for cuts and wastage:
- Measure the length of the area in metres.
- Measure the width of the area in metres.
- Multiply length × width to get the m².
- Add 10–15% depending on the layout and how many cuts you expect.
Wychwood comes in a large 60 × 90cm format, so careful planning is important – especially in smaller rooms and around island units. If you send us your measurements or a simple plan, we’ll work out how many boxes you need and help you choose the most efficient layout.
Installation and aftercare
Installation
Large format tiles like Wychwood Porcelain Matt need a well-prepared, level substrate and a good quality adhesive suitable for porcelain. We always recommend using an experienced tiler, especially in open-plan areas where straight lines and neat joints make a big difference to the finished look.
Your tiler or fitter should follow the guidance on the Wychwood datasheet and the adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations, including trowel size, back-buttering (if required), and movement joints.
Cleaning and maintenance
One of the biggest advantages of Wychwood is that, unlike real limestone, porcelain doesn’t need sealing. Day to day, a regular sweep and mop with a gentle, pH-neutral cleaner is usually all that’s required. Avoid harsh bleach or acidic cleaners designed for removing cement or limescale unless specifically recommended for porcelain.
If you’re not sure which cleaner to use, just ask in the showroom – we can recommend suitable products for Ca’ Pietra porcelain.

Wychwood Porcelain Matt – FAQs
Can Wychwood Porcelain Matt be used outside?
Wychwood Porcelain Matt is designed as a durable floor tile and can often be used in covered outdoor areas and garden rooms, provided the substrate and installation are suitable. For fully exposed patios and terraces, we’ll check the exact specification and may suggest a dedicated exterior version or matching outdoor paver where available.
Is Wychwood suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes – porcelain is an excellent partner for underfloor heating as it conducts and holds heat well. Your installer should follow the underfloor heating manufacturer’s instructions on commissioning and gradual heat-up to protect both tiles and screed.
Do I need to seal Wychwood porcelain tiles?
No, Wychwood is a porcelain tile and does not usually need sealing in the way a natural limestone floor would. You may occasionally use a suitable porcelain-safe cleaner to remove marks or grout haze – speak to us in the showroom if you’d like product recommendations.
How does Wychwood compare to real limestone?
Real limestone has a unique, natural charm, but needs more care – it is more porous and usually requires sealing and more careful cleaning. Wychwood Porcelain Matt offers a similar look with less day-to-day maintenance, making it a popular choice for busy family homes and open-plan spaces.
