Installation basics for UK projects
- Sub-base & falls: Prepare a stable, well-compacted base with a gentle fall (approx. 1:60–1:80) away from buildings.
- Bed & bond: Use exterior-rated adhesive/mortar systems compatible with porcelain.
- Pedestals: For balconies/terraces, 20 mm slabs work brilliantly on adjustable pedestals.
- Grout & joints: Outdoor-rated grout; consider wider joints for drainage and movement.
- Drainage & rules: For front gardens (>5 m²), plan permeable solutions to avoid runoff.
- Safety: Aim for R11+ and low-risk PTV where surfaces are often wet.

Are porcelain outdoor tiles slippery?
Porcelain outdoor tiles are engineered with textures and typically rated R11 or higher for external areas. Aim for low-risk PTV where surfaces are frequently wet.
Do outdoor porcelain tiles need sealing?
No sealing is usually required for porcelain. Grout and natural stone accessories may have separate care needs — check the product pages.
